Suddenly and somewhere,
Adrift in time,
There’s a life I remember,
That used to be mine.
Swiftly and without warning,
Cast out in the cold,
The life I once had,
Appeared to be sold.
Slowly and with care,
I build up once more,
Hiding the memories,
Of a time from before.
Closing in fast,
Now taking the lead,
Is the pain that I feel,
From the life that I need.
Absolutely beautiful !
Thank you
Rebuilding is so difficult….love the way you present it in you poem.
Thanks for that. I’m glad you liked it
I love the flow and word choice here. Lovely writing.
That one is very fitting for my life right now, beautifully written, thank you for sharing π
I’m sorry to hear that – be strong! I hope my poem helped in some small way x
I feel and hear it as gently as a whisper, such beauty…
Thanks for reading my poem π
It’s called ageing dear and we all have to get to that destination one of these fine days.Your poem was really good nice flowing verses effortlessly written
Hi Eileen, this poem wasn’t actually about ageing at all! It’s about what happens when you’re life suddenly and without warning changes and you have to pick up and carry on x
Oh i must have read this all wrong because to me it seems that what is written here is about how sometimes we lose control of our lives and what is happening within it.Yes circumstances can often dictate the changes,i apologise again for not reading it properley.I guess it is the reader’s perogative to view how he or she perceives the writing to be.I will now read it again because once wasn’t enough obviously.
Exactly! I should have said that – it is what the reader gets out of each poem – and that’s what I love about poetry π as long as everyone who reads it takes something from it then it works from all angles and every perspective x
Very Melancholic and filled with reflection like the ABBA song “SLIPPING THROUGH MY FINGERS”
Oh, I felt this poem! It’s so very well written and slid off the page and into my heart. Thank you!
Thanks for reading it – I’m so glad you enjoyed it π
This piece is so full of pain and that sense of desolation which fills you with utter loneliness sometimes but it still manage to be so beautiful and hopeful. I loved it!
