Snow flakes falling slowly,
As silence fills the air,
The night aglow with street lamps,
And the snows reflective glare.
It’s the eve of the eve of Christmas eve,
As I slip across the snow,
The street awash with shoppers,
All pacing to and fro.
From fairy lights to Christmas trees,
And through the busy throng,
Of Carolers and one man bands,
I hear the Christmas song.
If only we could stop awhile,
And listen to the reason,
We offer gifts and raise a glass,
To celebrate this season.
‘Goodwill to men throughout the land’
Seems pretty clear to me,
‘We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet’
Around the Christmas tree.
How I wish most people would view this time of year like you…peace be with you.
Thanks! It’s good to know there are at least two of us 😉
It’s the silly season and with all the rushing around we forget the true meaning of Christmas. Very well expressed 🙂
Thanks Norma – I’m glad you enjoyed this one – have a great Christmas 😉
If we only we pause and reflect on this season’s meaning instead of dashing around in the mall…enjoyed this ~
Exactly – glad you enjoyed my poem 😉
If only we could stop awhile,
And listen to the reason,
We offer gifts and raise a glass,
To celebrate this season.

How i wish i can celebrate a real Christmas :<, somehow some of many few of us in Singapore doesn't have that custom of doing it, and treated it like a normal holiday to say :(. And thank for this wonderful moment that you had shared, I enjoy it 🙂
So pleased you enjoyed this poem about the run up to Christmas. I think it’s a bit like that for a lot of people here too. We forget to really celebrate it properly and sometimes the true meaning is lost.
…If only we could stop awhile,
And listen to the reason,
We offer gifts and raise a glass,
To celebrate this season…
…for sure.
Glad you agree 😉

Even though Christmas has now passed…we still need to reflect on what this season means. Well done…I like the cheer in this..the goodwill.

I enjoyed the deceptive simplicity of the poem, in a sense that true things are simple. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and have a very Happy and peaceful New Year!
